Engineering and safety
FrameDesigner is a design and fabrication-planning tool. It calculates geometry: member lengths, joint notches, bend data, cut lists and fabrication order. It does not certify that a structure is safe, and it does not replace a qualified engineer.
This matters most for structures where failure causes injury. Roll cages, chassis, roll-over protection, lifting frames and anything carrying a person are all safety-critical. For those, the geometry is only one input. Material certification, weld quality and procedure, fabrication accuracy, load cases, fatigue, and sign-off by someone competent to give it all remain your responsibility.
Simulation results produced by FrameDesigner are a simplified model. They are useful for comparing one version of your own design against another. They are not a structural certification, they do not model welds, heat-affected zones, material defects, fatigue or progressive collapse, and they must not be presented as proof that a structure is fit for purpose.
Rules and regulations
Articles on this site discuss tubing specifications, roll cage construction and similar topics in general terms, and mention requirements published by sanctioning bodies as illustrations of how such rules are usually structured.
Those figures are not authoritative and they change. Always work from the current rulebook for your class and series, and confirm anything you are unsure about with a technical inspector before you cut material. A cage that fails inspection is scrap, and we cannot be responsible for that outcome.
Accuracy of content
We write from practical experience and we try to be accurate, but we make no guarantee that everything here is complete, current or correct for your situation. Engineering practice varies by application, jurisdiction and material supply. Verify anything you intend to rely on.
